Filling the C.U.P.
The root of the FLWR CITY CUP competition is to build community & raise funds for initiatives we believe in. Through these events, we aim to raise money and resources to fill the "cup" - with funds - until it overflows and we can share it back into the community.
We are excited to announce that we are in the process of creating the Flower City C.U.P. Fund - a registered non profit, that will serve as a community fundraising platform.
C.U.P. stands for Cannabis Used Positively, and that's what we aim to show through our event series efforts. Every year we will "Fill the C.U.P.". When the CUP is full, we will then fill the cups of others...
How will we fill this C.U.P. Fund this year?
50% of all CBD Flower Registration fee's
25% of revenue from People's Choice Popup Grading Parties
25% of contributions for People's Choice Judging Kits
25% of all proceeds for the FLWR CITY CUP Finals
+ Individual / Businesses Contributions
2022 Cup Recipients
The recipients of the 2022 Cup funds are a group of amazing organizations that are either feeding, clothing, sheltering, or empowering at risk community members in the Greater Rochester Finger Lakes Region. We commend this year's recipients for their commitment and leadership in our communities.
This year through the FLWR CITY Harvest Cup we aim to raise a total of $20,000 to be evenly distributed to the following projects:
Massachusetts Avenue Project (MAP) is a nonprofit urban farm located on Buffalo's West Side. MAP employs youth year round and teaches them job readiness and leadership skills through farming, our Mobile Market, kitchen and nutrition education, as well as food policy and civic engagement.
Founded in January 2018, by Reenah Golden, the Avenue Blackbox is a safe, bold, creative black-owned performing arts space located in Historic Joseph Avenue neighborhood of Rochester, NY created to offer affordable, meaningful, culturally rich experiences created by artists of color, youth, LGBTQ+ and those traditionally marginalized or silenced in a wide array of artistic disciplines to city of Rochester residents and visitors.
Roc Food Relief is a community funded and volunteer run group providing free groceries and survival funds to folx in need. We work together with our community to meet each others needs. We believe in organizing against the system that created the shortage in the first place.
It is the mission of Flower City Noire Collective (FCNC) to elevate womxn of color and marginalized folks in their communities using a holistic approach; to organize neighbors with imagination for resilient emergence, We emphasize the values of collective leadership, collective work and responsibility, collective education, and sustainability through skill sharing. FCNC seeks to fill the void of safe, Black-centered spaces in Rochester, NY that center around Black Joy, Black Love, and understanding.
Food for the Spirit’s mission is to use the arts and creative facilitation to cultivate racial healing, ecological justice, and equitable food systems. Partnering with people and communities in the City of Buffalo, Western New York, and the Finger Lakes regions, Food for the Spirit’s facilitators bring methods and strategies from movement leaders and systems-thinkers to support the development of local communities.
